EXIT/IN: 50 Years celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the world-famous venue that put local music in Music City. This commemorative book tells the history of one of Nashville's most important cultural institutions through a well-researched narrative text and never-before-seen photographs of the shows and people who made Exit/In legendary.Since 1971, Exit/In has achieved legendary status as Nashville's live music forum. Established as a home for local artists, Exit/In's quickly developed a reputation as a place where stars were born, helping to launch the careers of artists like Jimmy Buffett, Rosanne Cash, John Hiatt, and John Prine. Immortalized in Robert Altman's masterpiece, Nashville, Exit/In was cemented as one of the country's iconic live music venues, attracting artists as diverse as Sting, The Ramones, Garbage, Emmylou Harris, Talking Heads, Steve Martin, Kings of Leon, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and legions of others whose names cover the walls down on Elliston Place. In celebration of the 50th anniversary and counting, the book EXIT/IN: 50 Years will be released to the public in fall 2021 with a Foreword written by legendary songwriter and singer Jimmy Buffett, the first entertainer to perform at Exit/In on opening night in 1971. The hundreds of photographs in the book include candid shots of '70s country outlaws like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and John Prine; behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Robert Altman's movie "NASHVILLE"; and national recording artists like The Police, The Ramones, Garbage, and Gwar and Moon Taxi. The book also features portraits and interviews with a dozen Exit/In legends from John Hiatt to Darius Rucker to Margo Price.
