A Way Through The Wilderness' is a fascinating history of the original southern frontier, the area that today includes primarily Mississippi and Alabama. The author describes the movement of pioneers and settlers south from Nashville in the years following the American Revolution. The most traveled route through the wilderness became known as the Natchez Trace.
